  • Who is James Detwiler?

    James Detwiler has served at FBC Beverly Hills for since 2006, first as an Associate Pastor and now as Lead Pastor. Born and raised in Kentucky, Pastor James holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

Welcome to the preaching ministry of James Detwiler, Lead Pastor of First Baptist Church of Beverly Hills. The purpose of preaching is to proclaim biblical truth (namely, the gospel of Jesus Christ). It’s an endeavor of the heart and mind – the former because God’s Spirit engages the audience and preacher on a visceral, emotional level, and the latter because scripture, God’s word, is “exposed” so that the audience may engage the material intellectually.
